Bowman Power Group Ltd (Bowman) has won a Big Green Award for ‘Energy – Product or Solution’ of the year.

Organised by the Southern Sustainability Partnership, the annual awards honour those making a difference in the fields of corporate sustainability, environmental management and social value across the South Coast of the UK.

Bowman picked up the award for achieving significant reductions in fuel use and emissions on combustion engines with their latest Electric Turbo Compounding (ETC) product, ETC 1000. This ties in with the company’s commitment to making the use of fossil fuels greener where it is necessary to use them whilst also easing the transition to clean energy through improving the performance of renewable fuel sources.

This included achieving a 23% reduction in overall greenhouse gas emissions (carbon equivalent basis) for their customers and unburnt hydrocarbon emissions reductions of up to 40%. Bowman’s track record of reducing CO2 emissions by over 400,000 tonnes, was also a considerable achievement.

Paul Dowman-Tucker, CEO of Bowman, commented “We are incredibly pleased to have received this award amongst our peers on the South Coast. It is a real testament to the hard work of our engineers and those working in the region and across the UK in tackling the climate crisis and energy challenges of today.”

This follows Bowman’s earlier award win for New Product (Mechanical) of the Year at the 2019 British Engineering Excellence Awards (BEEAs) 2019.
