Bowman Power Group Ltd (Bowman) was shortlisted for the Energy & Environment award at The Engineer Magazine’s 2019 Collaborate to Innovate Awards.
The annual awards ceremony celebrates technology-led engineering collaboration across a range of different disciplines and sectors. Bowman picked up the nomination for achieving significant reductions in fuel use and emissions on combustion engines with their latest Electric Turbo Compounding (ETC) product, ETC 1000.
In the spirit of the awards, the project was a large-scale collaborative effort between Bowman, the Department of Energy and Climate Change, Innovate UK, Rolls-Royce Power Systems, Cummins, Lloyds Register and University College London. Bowman led an R&D project with these organisations which ultimately reduced the cost of their ETC technology by 45%, making it ready for mass market adoption.
This follows Bowman’s award win for New Product (Mechanical) of the Year at the 2019 British Engineering Excellence Awards (BEEAs) 2019.
